Kamakura

We headed down to Kamakura after our time in Tokyo. It happened to be my birthday and it was the best birthday ever! I was in Japan so I could not complain.
Kamakura is home to the giant bronze Budah called the Daibutsu as well as a 64 other budist temples and 19 shrines. It was the capitol until 1333 and a stronghold for the samurai. It was really really hot. It was hotter and more humid in Japan than in the Philippines. But we were in Japan so and really really happy to be there no matter the heat.

My cousin came out with us on this excursion. It was really nice for Cosette to have a friend. The day went a lot better.

Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu shrine was the first shrine we visited. It is dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war. We had to hike up to the top but it was worth it. The view was beautiful.

We trecked all the way over to the Diabutsu. It was a long hot walk but totally worth it.  The budah was huge. Some people had brought some offerings for him.

We went inside the Budah. Here Lynbdon is with Budah's belly.

Budah's shoes! I thought his feet would have been a bit bigger.

We next walked over to the Zeniarai Benten Shrine. This shrine is known for washing your money for good luck from what we were told. Zeniarai actually means coin washing. Upon doing some research I found that the money washed at the shrine is supposed to double. We participated in this ritual so I hope our money will double.

Washing our money for good luck/double. I am not sure if it worked. I am inclined to think it did not because the ticket machines at the train stations would not accept our wet bills.

Coco and Yuki enjoyed playing in the rocks. Yuki threw them. Coco tried to eat them. Luckily no casulaties only smiles.

Here is our bento box we had for dinner. It looks really pretty. It was extremly delicious.
We got a cake and sung happy birthday to me that evening. It was the best birthday ever.
