Tokyo Part 1

The first part of our week we spent in Tokyo. There is so much to do we were kind of overwhelmed. It is different from traveling in Europe where the museums are world famous. In Japan the history is not in a museum but in the temples and shrines. The suggestions we got from our friends were to visit shrines, shopping areas, buildings, etc.

Shibuya. The busiest intersection in the world. About 3.5 million people go through this intersection everyday.
Our first day in Tokyo we spent at the Meji-jingu shrine, Harujuku shopping district, and by the imperial palace.

It proabaly took us about an hour to get to our destination from Yokohama Station. Cosette is a natural at riding the train. She enjoyed holding on to the rings that hang from the ceiling of the train cars here.

Our first stop of the day was the Meji-jingu shrine.

It is tradition for saki producers to give saki to the temples. There Lyndon is with the "ceremonial" saki.

Before entering the shrine it is customary to wash the hands and mouth before entering.

The walk to and from the shrine was stunning. It was hard to believe that we were in the middle of the biggest city in the world.

Our next stop was the Harujuku district where the best shoppin in the city is.

We spent most of our time in the coolest toy store ever apropriotly named Kiddie Land. Coco was in love with all the stuff animals. We left with a Totoro stuffed animal. She loves Totoro.

The cute girl monkey's name is Coco.

Every year of Hello Kitty. My birth year 1988 Hello Kitty was rocking it in plaid.

Coolest entrance to a mall I have ever seen.

Our last stop was the imperial palace. This was as close as we could get to it.
Tokyo was a breath of fresh air after Manila. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the trains and city. Everyone loved Cosette. She made friends where ever went. It was a great day.
