The Great Jack O'Latern Blaze!!!

This weekend we finally made it to the Great Jack O'Latern Blaze! I say finally because we had tickets back in October before Halloween but then because of Sandy the Blaze had to cancel the date we were planning on going. They refunded our money and said they were open on some later dates. Yay!

The Blaze is an event held by the Historic Hudson Valley. Thousands of pumpkins are carved and used to build really elaborate scenes. Really really amazing.

A small preview of the how intrecate and elaborate the pumpkins were carved.

Lyndon took all of the pictures. He is a terrific camera man with little lighting. Although I think my pictures capture a little bit more mystery and spookiness to go a long with the spirit of the event. :-)

Pretty spooky right? Okay back to the better photos.

This spider kind of makes me think of the giant spider Frodo and Sam had to fight off in Lord of the Rings, or the giant spider that Hagrid had kept for a pet. Basically, it was huge!

There was an awesome dinosaur section. It started out with baby dinosaurs hatching and moved on and the dinosaurs kept getting bigger and bigger.

There were lanterns along the way that Cosette had to stop and touch. That is what she enjoyed most.

Butterflys, fairies, and giant mushrooms.

Eyes see you.

Cats!

Double, double toil and trouble fire burn, and caldron bubble.

These next carvings were by far my favorite. They did a tribute to the old Hollywood horrer films and did carvings of Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Mummy. These were so well done!

The whole Blaze was spectacular. The talent and creativity that was put into this event is amazing! Defintely going again next year.

Happy Fall!
