The English Market

We love food. But we are human and what person does not love food? Therefore we made a point to visit the English Market in Cork City. It contains 140 stalls making it probably the biggest indoor market that we Plothows have visited. It is located in the city center so very easy to get to. There are a lot of entrances to the market which makes it great when wandering around the city. You can pretty much get to it from Plunkett or Patrick Street. I was really excited to visit it. I had read and heard so much about it. Plus, Queen Elizabeth made a point to visit it when she came to Ireland for the first time in 2011. I think that is a good sign that it is worth the trip if the Queen made a point of going.

In front of Alternative Bread Co. They makes more than 40 varieties of bread everyday! And it is all hand made. I spied some delicious looking brown Irish soda bread there that looked amazing.
Chocolate is the food on this beautiful Earth that we love most so we made a stop at the Chocolate Shop. There we purchased a single origin Venezuelan chocolate bar. All the chocolate in that bar came from only one chocolate farm down there. It was pretty good and worth the euros for it.
I like that it is me and Henry in all the pictures. Most of the time I am the one taking the pictures and Henry is usually in the carrier or asleep. Nice to be documented.
Some of the goods from this booth. Turkish Delight! Yum!

Surprisingly most everything there was very well priced. Better deals than some of the big name super markets. I was a little shocked at some of the prices. We bought an early birthday cake for Lyndon's sister and were amazed that a bakery cake was so inexpensive. Boy it was delicious too! There is a cafe on the second floor that we are for sure going to try when we go back in the spring. Oh I would be so happy to live close by to this place. I would be in food heaven.
