London's Calling

Cliche title to this post, but England has been calling to us for a long time. We ended our European adventure with a trip to England! Our first home as a married couple. We love this place! We took the Eurostar from Paris to London. When we arrived at St. Pancras it was so odd to hear English being spoken. My first thought upon hearing English was "who are these people speaking my language?" After hearing French for several months straight it was bizarre to hear a language and understand it. What a luxury it was!

Lyndon has some relatives who live outside London we stayed with a couple of days. They are the kindest people! We loved getting to know them better. We have family history to thank for knowing them.
Since we have been to London several times we did not feel the urgency to see everything and took it nice and slow. That was so nice after all the traveling we had been doing.
Our first major stop was at Trafalgar Square. I wish we could have gone to the National Gallery because Van Gogh's Sunflowers is on display there right now and I would have seen all of Van Gogh's most famous works. We are kind of done with taking the kids to museums though. Plus, we had a more exciting plans for that day.
Our tradition of taking pictures with lion statues continues! The roaring is a must when taking a picture with a two year old.
Loving this beautiful day!
Trafalgar Square every time we have been always has some sort of interesting exhibit. This time it was this giant blue chicken.
Our happy babies.
On our way to Buckingham Palace we found a horse statue!`Naturally a picture was needed.
I love this little girl so much. She really enjoyed our trip out and about in London and these tulips! I never want spring to end.

One day we will be in London when Buckingham Palace is open to the public for tours. I am dying to go on a tour of Buckingham Palace.
The main event of the day was our visit to the Royal Mews to see the Queen's horses. Lucky for us, the Mews not only is where the horses are kept, but all the royal carriages.
Cosette with on of the Queen's horses! She was very excited to see it and wanted to ride one. She kept asking "please" to ride one. It was pretty adorable. The "stable boy" was nice enough to turn the horse around so we could get a picture with it. This type of horse is called a Cleveland Brown. There are two types of horses kept here by the Queen. The Cleveland Browns, and Windsor Grey. None of the Windsor Grey were there because they were at Windsor Castle with the Queen. I think she uses those the most frequent. You will see them pulling her around on the jubilee and other important events. The Cleveland Brown's are used for dignitaries that come to visit her majesty.
Here I am with the carriage that Will and Kate rode in after they got married! I kind of love them.
Lyndon with the car that Kate rode in on the way to Westminster Abbey to get married. Lyndon saw her riding in on the way to the Royal Wedding!
This is the Gold State Coach which has been used since George IV for every royal's coronation. I It is solid gold and weighs four tons! Apparently the shocks on this thing are really bad so whenever a royal rides in it they come out feeling sick because it bobs up and down the whole ride from the Mews to the Palace.
Cosette says "Hellor from St. James's Park".

By Big Ben and Parliament. This is my favorite site in London. The architecture of it is so beautiful and a lot more detailed than it looks. I also got to tour Parliament while we lived in Cambridge which was pretty incredible and has increased my love of this area eve more.
Beautiful Westminster. Our first trip to London Lyndon told me all about the architecture of this building and all about Christopher Wren. Being here brings back all those sweet memories.
My love in London town. He also gets called London a lot. Like I said earlier, it was so nice to not feel like we had to see everything. We saw the Royal Mews which was new and our favorite sights in London. It was a perfect day because we got back to our relative's house before dinner! That meant we got a good night's rest which we never seem to do on our trips.
xoxo
