Notre Dame Cathedral and Crypt

Notre Dame Cathedral. We passed by it all the time so these pictures are from a lot of visit we took there. We finally made it up to the top the last week we were there. We had tried to go earlier during our stay, but too long of line. Word to the wise traveler, get there early before it opens like at 9:30am to avoid waiting in the long line. The wait probably feels longer to us since we have small children. The wait is worth it though. This place is one of my favorites sights to see in Paris. The first time Lyndon and I first visited Paris this was the first iconic sight we saw and it set a great tone for the rest of the trip. This is the first building that made me fall in love with Paris. The Rose window gigantic! There is nothing quite like it. The colors are so much more beautiful than the other cathedrals we have visited. I just love it! I do not have a better reason for loving it  other than that. It is perfect in everyway. It is gothic architecture at its finest.
This picture and the one below I took while I was out on a morning run. Those flying buttresses are beautiful. I had the best running routes ever.

After all the effort we put in to getting to the top here we are!
The fist time we tired to make it to the top we epically failed. The long line got the better of us so we decided to visit the crypt instead. This was another thing on my Paris bucket list we were able to check off. We got to see the old ruins of the Cathedral and how the city looked when the Cathedral was fist built. Paris has changed a lot since then. The Seine used to be a lot wider than it is now.
Those gargoyles. What a sight!
All smiles because we are at the top of the Church, as Cosette calls it.
Waiting in lines are fun, especially when Mommy and Daddy bribe you with ice cream.
Oh beautiful Paris!

Got a shot of the famous gargoyle. It has such a nice view of the city.

Family shot we took one time while passing. We walked by this place all the time. It was on Lyndon's route to class and to the church. We loved living so close to it.
The day this picture happened we were just hanging out in the back garden. There was a school group that decided to join Cosette on the wheel (not sure what to call this thing). It was all laughs and giggles even when some of them fell off (it was not that high off the ground). We love our Daddy.

I am so sad that we do not get to walk by this gothic masterpiece whenever we wish anymore. We are all sad. It is one of our favorites. Our last day in Paris we walked by it one last time and told Cosette to say goodbye to the "Church" because we were going back home to New York. She cried and cried saying "I don't want to leave. I want to stay in Paris." Yeah, me too sweet heart. Me too.
