July Was the Best

July will always be one of my favorites months because it is my birthday month, and I love summer time. July means the heat is on and we go to the pool a lot and get real tan. I love the sunshine. We have had a great month and here are some photos that did not make it into other posts. Above is the view from the top of the ferris wheel at the Anderson County Fair. 
We have been to the zoo a few more times. We got our traditional tortoise picture, and both kiddos were smiling!


Chick-fil-a had their cow appreciation day and we could not pass up a free meal. The things we will do for free food. And that is my Dad with a cow blanket wrapped around him, haha. Cosette was kind of frightened/obsessed with the cow. Everytime we drive past Chick-fil-a now she yells out "there's Chick-fil-a!". We like that place, a lot!

Cosette completed her summer nursery school program. She loved going to school. Every day she would wake up excited to go play with her friends. She loved having a backpack and lunch box to take to school. There would be times in the afternoon she would head to the front door and tell me that she was going to school. Now pizza is her favorite food because they had pizza on Fridays at school.  
My Mom and I went blackberry picking with my Aunt and cousins. I love pick your own places. And Tennessee is blowing me away with its beauty. I love it down here, humidity and all!
We made some really good blackberry jam from our loot. 

Aunt Carol and Benny found a bird's nest in one of the blackberry bushes. He kept looking for more nests while we were there.
There were birthday celebrations galore this month! Cosette thought all of them were for her. Eva was a sport and let her help blow out the candles.

H was excited to climb on as many things as he could. He is a mover.

Uncle Fred let the kids drive the wheelchair around the zoo. If you ask Cosette she will probably tell you this was her favorite zoo trip.  
The otters were so playful at the zoo that trip. I love watching them swim around. They are little performers. I am a swimmer so I am a sucker for aquatic animals. 
And kind of stinking adorable.

 I look forward to soaking up the last bits of our Tennessee summer. We have big plans for August.

Traveling Half Way around the World

We made it to Manila! We flew over the US and the Pacific Ocean to get here. Our total travel time was 55 hours. It was long but surprisingly not bad at all. Cosette was an angel and the Haneda Airport in Tokyo was like a hotel. If those two things had been any different attitude in writing would not be so positive. This odessy of a journey begun way before our first flight. Packing up our apartment for our subletters took a lot longer than we supposed it would. So instead of being refreshed and ready for the long trip over we were tried and I did not want to get out of bed. We got enough sleep to keep on going till our flight from NYC to San Fransicso where we tried to rest. That flight for me was the worst. Cosette did sleep but was up for a lot of it. Remote Learning Part 1

Remote learning is over for now, thank goodness. We have been doing remote learning since March 20. We are experts at google classroom, zoom meetings, and google meets. It's been rough, but we did it!  This post is long and detailed about what each kid had to do everyday for school. It was intense. The kids did wonderfully. Their teachers are amazing! They worked around the clock to learn all the new technology, meeting with students individually. I received personal phone calls from them asking what they could do to help and also talking to my kids. I am so grateful for the teachers they had this year.  All three kids participated in remote learning. Each grade/teacher did something different. What they all had to do was answer and attendance question by noon, read for thirty minutes a day, and I-ready (an assessment program that helped determine where they were in math and reading).  Third Grade: Cosette's assignments were what she was doing in school. Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! This has become one of my favorite holidays in the last few years. This year especially I am really into it. It probably has to do with my sweet Lyndon who proposed to me on V-Day four years ago. Since then he has made Valentine's Day a fun and special day. He always surprises me with something fun. Usually we go eat some where fabulous and go see a ballet or opera. He likes to do something cultural on this speical day. This year I am getting into the spirit more. Cosette can do a lot more things. We made special Valentine's for our families and made yummy cookies. She kept sneaking cookie dough and eating it. She is my daughter.  The finished product waiting for Lyndon. I went to the Cake Boss Bakery last year to get Lyndon something for V-day and was inspired to make the dark chocolate bowls filled with chocolate covered strawberries.
