Stanley and the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanic Gardens

We spent a day down at the southern side of Hong Kong Island in a place called Stanley. It is on a peninsula just off Hong Kong Island. It's a touristy area with a great market. We went down there in search of finding a piece of art to take home with us. We like to get an art piece from the places we travel to. We found a really nice one that I cannot wait to hang up. I am currently in project mode focusing on pictures.  Anyway, Stanley was a I think head quarters for the British in 1840s. It was beautiful! We took a bus from our cousin's flat down there. We had some really nice views from our bus window. I like taking the bus because you get to see what a city looks like.
Picture from the Stanley promenade. It was so lovely!

View of Repulse Bay from our bus window.

Prettiest yellow building in Stanley.

After we were done at Stanley we headed back to Hon Kong Island to go to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanic Gardens. We took the bus back and it was an adventure. We had to take two smaller buses there and it was kind of crazy figuring it out. But we saw some pretty neat things like this dragon sculpture.
On our search for our bus we ended up at the Happy Valley race course. We just snapped a picture with the horse statues.
The kids were upset that they were not allowed to ride on the horses. They tried to go through the hedge to get on them. When there's a will there's a way.
The HK Zoological and Botanic Gardens was nice. We were in a nicer part of the city which was really nice because we had been seeing a lot of places that look like Times Square. I enjoyed that. The zoo was free, which is a big reason why we put it on our to do list. We wandered around the area with all the birds. It was set on the side of a mountain, but then so is everything in Hong Kong. We spent a while hanging out by this fountain. The kids made several friends and had a great time playing with them. I love it. They were playing with kids from all over the world right in this little garden center.

We all snapped a picture with this sign.
