Hiking the Henderson Waves

We finally completed hiking the Southern Ridges! We have done parts of it, all with the end goal of getting to the Henderson Waves, but never made it. We finally made it! So we made a video. And we can finally check this off our Singapore bucket list. Time is running out.

We had a public holiday last week, so no work or school. Only playing allowed. We invited some friends and had a great time. The kids were all champs and Henry only wanted to be carried a half of the way. We ended the hike at Vivo City, where we ate to our hearts content at the Kopitiam. Going to miss those too.

The Southern Ridges is a trail that connects five parks to one another. In total it is 10k, so not super long, but little legs can only take so much. You can start it at each one of the parks, so it can be tricky to find the connecting trail (at least in our case it has been tricky). Each of the tree parts we have done have been very memorable for a number of reasons. We enjoyed all the lovely views of the city, There are some WWII sites along the trail, which is really cool to check out. We saw a snake one time on a tree next to the trail where we were walking. There are plenty of signs saying to not feed the monkeys, but we have not seen any. Then there is the Henderson Waves, and it is amazing.

The Henderson Waves connect two of the parks together. It is a must see for the architecture. It is designed to look like a series of waves. There are a lot of spots to stop and enjoy your time there. The resting places are curved and great for the kids to slide down. And some adults too. Lyndon went down a couple of times. It was definitely the high light of the outing.

Singapore is so lovely. I have fallen so hard for this place. I have really enjoyed all the nature parks here, I am sure to many people's surprise. I was not that into hiking as a teenager, but people change. Hiking here is just cool. We are in the jungle! It's awesome! Singapore does an incredible job at creating green spaces. The National Park's motto is "Let's make Singapore our Garden". We have enjoyed living close to one of the parks and have taken advantage of visiting several others.

I love this place.

Post here about another time we did part of the Southern Ridge trail. It was not as successful as this time. And if you are interested in checking out more of our videos you can click here or on the video tab at the top of the page.
