The Haunted Pumpkin Garden

Image
We made it up to the New York Botanic Garden one weekend in October to explore their Haunted Pumpkin Garden. Halloween is my favorite and I could not pass up going up there. It has been too many years. Cosette was three (!!!!) last time I took the kids up, and yet I can still remember that outing very clearly. Anyway, it was time.  To sum it all up, I am glad we went. It was great to get out of the house. I love pumpkins, so it made me very happy to see them scattered around the garden. We have not been doing as many outings as we have in years past. It made me very happy to actually do something like this on a weekend. It had been way to long. The kids enjoyed themselves immensely . They love sticks, jumping on rocks, and running through woods, so it was a little bit of Halloween paradise.   There were a lot of great activities to do. We planted our own grass seeds, which are flourishing in our kitchen window. Masking coloring, learning about spiders, puppet

New England Road Trip Video!

Road trip through western NY, Vermont, and Massachusetts. We had planned another trip, but it fell through last minute (literally checking in at the airport). We change our plans and had a lovely time in the North East. Truly a fly by our seat trip, making plans as went, last minute hotel bookings, etc. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Grandma in the City

Grandma came to visit us! We had a really good visit. They all good, but this one was particularly wonderful. She was my running buddy, and helped me get out the door everyday she was here. Central Park is her favorite place to see when she visits. We ran there everyday, and it made us so happy.  On our way to can you guess?? The Central Park Zoo! It made me so happy to see them having sweet conversations together.  The snow leopard was out! Both snow leopards were out! A sight we rarely get to see.  Both mothers, and both daughters. I love her so much. We took her to Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze with us this year. You can see that post here .  Since we live above an ice cream shop, we cannot make excuses to go everyday. When we have visitors in town we can! Took Grandma to Van Leewuen, and she graciously let me eat several bites of hers.  There is no wrong way to eat an ice cream cone.  We visited the MET. I finally saw &quo

Halloween Warriors

Halloween 2018 is the year I will remember us trick or treating till we drop. We had a red dragon with blue spots, a pirate, and a green dragon. It was the best Halloween we have had. Obviously, trick or treating in NYC is a little bit different than the suburbs. Stores hand out candy, starting after school lets out. The earlier you go the better, because they do run out of candy. Apartment buildings with a lot of units will usually have a list go around where people can sign up saying they are passing out candy. The list will be given out to those trick or treating in the building. Then there are certain streets that will close to traffic and host Halloween block parties. New Yorkers go all out. When we do these streets, we are blown away about how incredible it is done. Make me love NYC all the more.  With that, our trick or treating story: We left the house shortly after school got out to start trick or treating at the stores. We met up with friends a long the way, and ende
