Four Day Weekend

Image
This past weekend was a four day weekend. Now that the big kids are in school, weekends and holidays are a lot more exciting. We have them home the whole day and have time to go on longer outings and explore our city. We did not waste this weekend. We checked out Prospect Park in Brooklyn, attempt to go to every playground in Central Park, and visit the Bronx Zoo. Still recharging from all that over here.   Prospect Park has been on my list first because there is a zoo there. Second, I listened to a podcast about it a few months ago ( Part 1 and 2 here ). Learning about the history of the park sent it straight up to the top of my NYC list. It is a HUGE park, especially since we have no idea where anything is in it. The plan was to visit the  Zucker Natural Exploration Area . It's a natural play area where they have used trees to create a play space for kids. It was like playing in my parents back yard. Singapore Farewell Tour Video

Sharing a little video I put together of our last month in Singapore. The kids were on term break the whole last month, which could not have come at a better time. That gave us enough time to visit all our favorite places, and say good bye to as many friends as possible. It was really fun, but very hard. Saying goodbye to a place you love is the worst. I just want to focus on all the wonderful activities and places we were able to visit. As the video will tell you, our time in Singapore (for me and the kids) was pure joy. Majuah Singapore! You will forever hold a special places in our hearts, especially the animal parks.

We are finally getting things settled around here, and I am realizing that I have so many pictures and stories from our last little bit in SG that I need to document. I tell everyone that Singapore has the best of all worlds. You have the city, nature, food, travel, beach day every day, easy public transport. It is really really nice. One thing we are missing is the easy access to the nature reserves there. We have Central Park a block away, but rats are not as cool as monkeys, and I wish we did have monitor lizards here to eat all those rats. I still love you Central Park. Better you have those rats then my apartment. Another one of our SG bucket list items was checking out the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve . It's a huge reserve that is home to mangroves, mudskippers, among other things. I still cannot get over hiking in the jungle. It blows my mind still. This place is great because it is a board walk through the area making it great for kids, cause strollers. My
