S'more out of Summer

Image
L.L. Bean hosted a free event downtown at the Battery this week. We went had the best time at this pop up event!  We made s'mores, played in an awesome tent, listened to the sounds of nature, played corn hole, hung out in a hammock and lots more! Sometimes these free pop up events are duds, but this one was so much fun. We stayed for about two hours. I was pushy with some of my friends, telling them they had to come, because it was seriously so much fun!  Poor Cosette has been battling a nasty cold for a week now, so she was at home with me and Rapha. We spent most of our time playing in the tent. This camping bunk bed was amazing! I want it for out apartment. Rapha loved running around the tent with the lanterns, sitting on "his" bed. I could not pick just one photo of him playing in there. He is too cute, and our mornings just the two of us our numbered.  He yelled, "take a picture of me sleeping, Mom!".  Once Rapha let her hav

Father's Day 2019

Trying to get everyone to say, "We love Daddy!". Happy Father's Day to our Lyndon, our daddy, the man we love most in the world. The kids have no idea how lucky they are to have him as their dad. He adores them more than anything.  In the last couple of months a couple people have approached me and complemented Lyndon on how great of a father he is. It was a great reminder to me. Sometimes the things we see everyday we take for granted. Lyndon was sick today, on Father's Day. He was well enough to eat, so we put together a spread of his favorite foods. Bread, cheese, and chocolate. We went around the table and everyone said their favorite thing about their Dad. It was unanimous that their favorite thing is that he lets them play with his Nintendo Switch. That is the kind of dad he is. He shares his interest, his "toys", books, knowledge with them.  When he does something he wants to include the kids. We get him a LEGO set it turns into a fami

The End of the School Year

Image
The school year is winding down. We have two and half weeks left. We have three days off in June. Kind of annoying since it is so close to the end of the year. Granted, one is a Muslim holiday, so I totally get why we have that off. The other two I have no idea what they are for, but we have them off, so we will play.  This past week there were three major school events. Cosette had Biography Day. She did hers on Anne Frank. I am so proud of her. She spoke clearly and loud enough for everyone in the classroom to hear. Henry's class won a recess in Central Park from the school auction. Parents were invited to join. I went and walked with Henry and his BFF over to Central Park and hung out with him for an hour. Then Gallery Night was thrown in the middle of the week. It is a night where art projects the kids have been working on at school are displayed. Second grade did pictures of what they are going to be when they grow up. Cosette drew a picture of her as a paleontologist at

Henry's First Medal

Henry ran his first 5K over the weekend! He and I did the NYC Color Run together. A few years ago Cosette and I ran the Singapore Zoo 5k ( post here ), and now Henry is big enough to wear her shirt from the race. Henry loves it when we both wear our Singapore Zoo 5k shirts together. Recently, he asked  if he and I could do a race, so we could have our own matching race t-shirts. On the morning of the race, though, Henry was not so sure that he wanted to run anymore. With a little encouragement (and some shameless bribery) he agreed to go and we all pack into a taxi. The race was really relaxed. They let people start from 9am-10am in waves, and they let everyone run or walk at their own pace. It was held at the Mets Citi Field in Queens. We started in the Met's stadium and got to run around the edge of the baseball field! That was the best part of the race. Okay, maybe running through all the color zones and getting coated in the rainbow was the best part.  Henry did a g
