Rain Can't Stop Me Now

Image
We took to the city on a very rainy day in November, and had a wonderful outing with some friends. We ventured down to midtown to check out the Grinch for Good installation down by the Today Show and Canstruction at Brookfield Place. First we had to stop at the LEGO store. Everyone was in heaven. Henry built these adorable Halloween mini figures. We could have spent the entire day there playing with LEGOs and looking at all the amazing LEGO creations around the store.   He wants these cars. If he was older I would. They are amazing.  The boys were so cute in all their matching rain coats and holding hands.  I absolutely love this posted. New Yorkers are all those things, but also watch out for each other.  My friend took this picture of us walking to our next destination. It was one of those days that nothing was going to stop me from going on an outing. Nothing did. The kids did not even complain about our lack of rain gear. After this outing I

The Crown Jewels

A couple months ago, I went with some friends to Sotheby's auction house to check out some of Marie Antoinette's jewels. They were en route to a big auction in Europe, but of course could not pass up the opportunity to stay in our fair city for a bit. They were on show to the public for free, and I was not going to pass up an opportunity to see these babies. I tried on one of her rings, and one of her father-in-laws rings (I think). That is what they told us it was. The rings had their initials encrusted with tiny diamonds. Under their initials was a clear covering (not sure the material), and underneath was pieces of their hair. Cool, but kind of gro

Christmasy Stuff

It's the most wonderful time of the year in NYC. Christmas is hands down my favorite time to be in the City. I love how the city decks herself out in all sorts of holiday decorations. The tree vendors that pop up all over the sidewalks, making it smell like pine. The Salvation Army bell ringers who have turned into bell dancers. All the Christmas treats that every place has! It is incredible that none of us look like Santa Claus.  Yet I feel like I have done so little to enjoy everything that is going on this time of year. FOMO is so real. I felt like this last year, and vowed I was going to do more this year. We haven't. I have decided to focus on everything that we have done. Christmas tree from our corner store tree vendor. Natural History Museum Origami Christmas tree. Columbus Circle holiday market. 5th Ave windows. Rockefeller Tree. Gingerbread houses. Family gift exchange. Santa at Macy's. Macy's Christmas windows. When I type it out it sounds a whole lot m
