The Great Wall of China!

Image
The last leg, really day of our girls trip was spent in Beijing, China. We had a 23 hour layover in the city. I decided we should make the most of it and do some type of day tour. Unbeknownst to me when I started planning, that the Great Wall is only a hour drive from Beijing. That was it! We were going to the Great Wall.  We flew from Hong Kong to Beijing in the evening. Our flight was delayed, so we did not get in until 2am, or later. I cannot remember. It was a long night. When you go to China you have to have a visa. there are visas you can get at the air port for up to 72 hours. There is not very good signage in in the Beijing airport, so it took us a while of waiting in one line to be told to go to another line to get our visa. Getting the visa did not take a lot of time. We had all our travel information printed out and the process was quick. We did not get to our hotel till 4:30am though.  We booked a tour to the Great Wall and Summer Palace with Mike's Beijing Tour

I could not wait to get off the plane, feel the humidity wrap itself around me, and get some food! We had a wonderful two to three-ish  days there. We mostly revisited places that we loved, adding in a couple new things we had not done.  The first thing I wanted to do when we arrived, was to get some chicken rice and fresh juice. We went straight from the air port to Lau Pa Sat, one of the most famous hawker centers in SG. I have missed Singaporean food. It is just delicious. You know it is good, when your kid eats it, and says she likes it. We got fresh watermelon juice, which is another thing I have terribly missed.  We went on the cable car from Faber Mountain to Sentosa. That was one thing I really wanted to do while living there and never did. We had the car to ourselves for the first littl
