Little Dates

Lately I have been making time to spend one on one with each kid, or sometimes another will tag along. It has been really special to go on these little dates. There is usually pizza, and or ice cream. Some are big, and others are smaller things. Sometimes there are free, and sometimes we pay big bucks for it. Whatever we do is special.

I've learned that it doesn't matter what I am doing with my kids, they just want to have my time and attention. I've taken them to a book store, and they play with the toys and love it! Half an hour, free, and they had the best time ever.

Rapha gets the most alone time with me, since he only goes to school three days a week. I will do things with him during that time. With Henry and Cosette, I will arrange a play date for two of the kids and go out with one. Or take them out at night if Lyndon is home. Sometimes I higher a babysitter. This is something that I have found is really important for me and my kids to do. Siblings are great, but sometimes it is hard to have to share your parents with two other people. I want each of my children to know that they are special to me, and that I want to spend time with them.

Since doing these little dates, they have invited me to watch a show with them, do a coloring project with them, help build LEGO with them, etc. Sometimes it is hard to sit through episodes of Paw Patrol, but my child has invited me to do something with them, and that is cool! I think that is really awesome that my kids want me to do things like that with them. Hopefully they continue to ask me to do things with them forever!

Free hot chocolate with this girl after a doctors appointment. It was an easy way to get some one on one time with her.

A mini date with Henry that Rapha tagged along for. A quick trip to Orwasher's and then to the library. I let the boys play computer games, since it was a special date. When we go, they are not allowed to play computer games, so it made this trip extra special. I had to sit with them to help them read and play the games. It was a nice way to interact with them.

Girls night to see Anastasia on Broadway before it closed. This was a pricier date, but worth it! She has been asking to see it for over a year now. She was so excited to go. She sat in my lap for the first act. That was really sweet. She knew the songs and was singing along with them. It was a fun night.

We even wore matching hair clips.

Ice cream and a trip to Barnes and Noble to play with the toys with this little boy.

An afternoon with Henry trying the new pizza restraint in our neighborhood.

Sometimes making dinner turns into some one on one time. Henry asked to make pizza for dinner one night. He wanted to help me make it. We had a little one on one time in the kitchen together. It was really nice.

Coming home from music class one day this little boy needed some food. We stopped and got pizza and a red drink (what he calls Hi-C).

This errand turned into a fun little date with my Rapha. He said my name is Love.

Afternoon date with the big kids to see a free private showing of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

Our most recent little date was taking the boys to Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day! Happiest day of the year.
