Filipino Independence Day

Today the Philippines celebrated 114 years of independence. They declared independence from Spain June 12, 1898. Our plan was to try to find something cultural to do but there was nothing to be found. So we celebrated it like the Filipinos do by watch a movie and going to the mall. Seriously. We asked around to see what people were doing and everyone told us to not go out (because traffic would be especially bad today) but to stay at home relax, watch a movie, and go to the mall. So that is what we did.

We enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner with Brother and Sister Farnsworth. They live in the building next to us and our serving a mission for our church.

Me enjoying my watermelon shake. The Philippines have the best fruit drinks! It tastes like the actual fruit and not some sugary soda drink. I love it!

All the building workers in our building today wore this outfit for Independence Day. They told us it is what the Filipinos wore during the war.

Happy Independence Day!
