January!

We are into mid-February, but I want to highlight what we did in January that did not make it into its own post.

First off, this is the best January that we I have had in several years. Nothing will beat January 2017 (Singapore, Sister trip to Japan, no snow), but this one was the best I could have expected in NYC.

Yes, it was freezing, but we have learned more and more every year about how to live in the cold. I read the book There is no Such thing as Bad Weather, and that has revolutionized the way I think about how to live in the cold. I think of it like this: there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. We have stocked up on long underwear for everyone, bought winter boots, rain coats, hats, gloves, and scarfs for the kids (something they do not wear often, but appreciate when it is super cold). I have not frozen like I have in years past. It is cold, but we are prepared.

Lyndon and I saw School of Rock before it left Broadway. Loved it! The legend of the rent is way hard core, yeaaaaaah! All the kids in the show played their instruments live. They are really talented.
Woke up one morning to this cute little note from the cuter Cosette.

Took the big kids to get cookie ice cream sandwiches at our ice cream store.

As you may have predicted, the kids loved them.

Got our crafting on.

Started going back to builders Wednesdays at the library. We look forward to it every week.

When it is time to clean up, the instructor always tells the kids to make sure they get a picture of their creation. I am immediately summoned to take lots of pictures. They are always so proud of their creations.

Cosette and Henry participated in a basketball camp at Columbia. We watched the men's game afterwards. It was a really fun family outing. Cosette gets really into the games, cheering for her team and talking a little smack about the other team, haha.

Columbia Lions! Lyndon has only attended schools that have big cats as their mascots: Lakeridge Leopards, Orem Tigers, BYU Cougars, Downing College Griffons, and Columbia Lions. We ended with the king of the cats.

This crazy kid started Sunbeams! We are officially done with nursery. He still wants to go to nursery, and doesn't understand that he is too old to be in there now. When I say to him that he is too big to be in nursery he says, "No! I am still little!" He is always happy when we pick him up from Sunbeams, and the teachers say that he participates really well.

He tried on these sunglasses, and handed me a pair. We have heart eyes for each other.

Blurry picture, but took it after we saw a private preview of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. It was really good. A friend emailed us the info, and we signed up and got free tickets. We went with a bunch of friends and had a great time. We loved the movie. I cannot wait to take everyone again when it comes out (February 22). Everyone take your kids to see it.
Cosette gave a wonderful talk in Primary this month. She has started attending Activity Days once a week. It is for the girls in our congregation ages 8-11. They do crafts, have a spiritual messaged, etc. It is another thing that shows how fast she is growing up.

Rapha and Alice for President! Fun morning at the Children's museum with friends.

Henry's class field trip to see the Three Billy Goats Gruff play. He is in the very front right corner. He is doing really well in school. He has a really great group of kids in his class. His teachers are great and do a good job of working with him. He is always so happy when I pick him up. He has his big Henry smile on, and is literally bouncing all the way home.

Rapha is enjoying school as well. He has a bunch of little friends that he talks about. He loves his teacher, and likes to take books and toys from home to show her.

That is our January. 2019 is off to a very good start. We have already had some great things happen so far in February, and there is a lot more fun on the horizon.
