New York Botanic Garden Holiday Train Show

On the coldest day of the year, we went outside! We are crazy, but it was MLK day and we had to get out of the house. The New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train show was on our Christmas outing list, but too much to do, so little time we didn't make it up there. Freezing cold day made it sound like a good idea to venture up to the Bronx.

We took the Metro North from Grand Central to the NYBG. Lucky for us our terminal was off the food court. We grabbed some lunch, and Gatorade. The kids are obsessed with Gatorade. Then we were off!

It was a good outing. When we got to the show, we watch a little film about how the buildings were made. An artist and his studio make it every year out of wood and other natural objects. Learning about how it was created, then seeing the show, made it even more impressive than it already was. Miniature famous landmarks from NYC made with sticks, acorns, leaves, etc. It was amazing to see how they were all incorporated into the miniatures. And the trains, we cannot forget the trains. It was cool seeing them zoom around the show. The ladybug and bumble bee painted trains were our favorite. Rapha knocked one off its track into the mote surrounding it, and for a moment we were unsure if it would run again. Ah, kids.

It was a sweet outing. I am really glad we went.

Main branch of the New York Public Library. I am a huge fan of this place.

Grand Central, where are our outing began.

A miniature of the green house we were in! It is a beautiful building.

Queensborough Bridge.

St. Patrick's Cathedral.

We got Cosette and Henry these little cameras for Christmas. They have been a big hit. The kids take them out and take lots of pictures. I love seeing the world through their tiny lenses.

30 Rock.

Uptown girl with the downtown landmarks.

Brooklyn Bridge.

One World Trade Center was my absolute favorite. It was stunning! I do not know what they used to make it look like glass, but they did an amazing job.

Loving everything about this photo, Henry's smile, Cosette laying her head gently on Rapha's shoulder. I have so much love for these people.

Almost living my jungle dreams out. The winter clothes are throwing it off.

Big sister and little brother pictures. He can only handle so much, haha.

We found Yankee Stadium. This Yankee Fan was really hap
A much needed family outing, because every family outing is much needed. As the kids get older, it seems we get less and less time together. We seem to get busier and life gets in the way. I really enjoyed this outing. If you could have only seen the smile on my face.
