Manila so far

We have been in the Philippines for almost two weeks now and here is what has been going on.

Our first day the other legal intern with Lyndon took us around for a bit and showed us the area  we live in. We were supposed to meet up wiht him later to go look about getting a phone but jet lag took control of us and we ended up taking a 14 hour nap. That was the best nap of my life and it helped us get over jet lag a little bit. It at least put us on the right schedule.
Went to a fun ward activity at the US embassy. At the activity Cosette went swimming for the first time. She loved it! She is defintly my child. Had the best mango of my life there too.
Our first time grocery shopping  we pretty much wanted to gag. The meat area was pretty foul. I will not go into details but we do not shop at that grocery store anymore. The fruit here is delicious. Mangos and pinapple are our favorites so far. We have tried some new fruits, calamansi, and green mango. Calamansi is a tiny round citrus fruit that taste like th mix between a lime and lemon. It is very tart and used in juices and seasoning meats. The green mango has a sour sweet taste.

Lyndon goes to work pretty early. So Coco and I just hang out. We are still trying to figure out what to do. I was ready to do a lot of exploring but the first thing Lyndon's boss told us when he picked us up from the airport was to not take taxis. So we are at the mercy of people with cars. The taxis are okay, I guess some people have had problems but so far we have been okay when we need to use them. I took one by myself and it was not too bad. Luckily there is a senior missionary couple that lives in the building next to us that works in the same office as Lyndon so they take to him and from work everyday.

Our ward here has been great. If it was not for the Relief Society sisters I would be going crazy. They have helped me find good places to grocery shop, taken me to activities, and helped me get adjusted. That has been a life saver.
Cosette has had a difficult  adjusting. The frist week she was trying to get over jet lag and that was really hard for her. She has not been eating good either. This week she has been a lot happier so I think she is getting over jet lag but eating is not as good as I would like it. We brought over a lot of baby food from the States so it is nothing that she is not used to. Any suggestions?

Manila so far is not what we expected but it is good.
