MET Art Class

The last two months, Cosette has been taking a weekly art class at the MET. She has been talking about being an artist and a painting teacher since she could talk. She loves it. It was about time we signed her up.

The class is amazing. First off it is in the MET, cannot get much better than that. Second, it is two hours long. They spend about half the the time in the classroom and the other half going through different galleries. At the end they bring home their portfolio. Another thing it has going is price. After doing research into a lot of art classes on the UWS, this one was the cheapest option.

The class was great for all of us. While Cosette is in class, the boys and I have been hanging out at a couple of playgrounds next to the museum. Once when Rapha was sleeping, I got Henry a sketch book and pens for him to have his own little art class. Another time Lyndon was working from home, and I got to have a couple of glorious hours to myself in the museum. Cosette has taken a greater interest in art and the MET. That was one of our destinations on our girly day

The many faces of Henry. He is practicing his facial poses for Cosette. The MET really brings his "artistic" side out.

From the day I got to visit the museum by myself. I went to the Golden Kingdoms exhibition featuring luxury arts from the ancient Americans. It was fascinating. I did not even finish the exhibit before I had to pick her up.

Henry sharing his sketch book and pens with Rapha. Henry drew a picture he called "red sky", and one of the koi fish in the near by pond.

Brothers.

We were always stopping at this sculpture to get a picture with it.

We live on the opposite side of the park from the museum. It is a really nice walk through the park. I've enjoyed walking over there with them.

Its the best when they get along, and even better when they are holding hands.

I got Henry an ice cream cone on a day Rapha was napping. I loved having a little mommy and Henry time.

Her first creation she brought home.

From our girly day. She really wanted to see the Perseus statue from her art class.

The last day of art class the blossoms were out.

Bringing home her portfolio. She still loves unicorns.

Best buds. She made a good little friend, who is the same height as her! Tall girls have to stick together.

This picture is the best! We get hot dogs for dinner on art class nights, since class would get out late. To celebrate the class ending the buddies were treated to popsicles.

I was excited for her to do the class, but not quite sure how it was going to go with the boys while we waited. Everything worked out fine. We all enjoyed ourselves, and were all enriched just by merely playing in the museum's shadow.
