A Magical Night of Lighscapes

Last weekend we took a trip up to Hudson Valley to view the Lightscapes at the Van Cortlandt Manor. We have been up there for The Blaze in the fall and absolutely loved that. This was a new event the Historic Hudson Valley was putting on, so we were excited to check it out.

It was pretty cool. The place was decorated in an enchanted forest theme. Everything was made from recycled materials. It became a game to figure out what everything was made of. I couldn't guess half of it partly because we were chasing the kiddos around. Cosette really liked it. The enchanted forest theme really spoke to her girly side. The first thing she said when we walked up and saw the rainbow entrance was "beautiful!".
It was different, than not so different from the Blaze. It was a really well done light exhibit that really tapped into the fantasy world. Things from our imaginations really came to life. Plus, it is incredible to see what people can create.

We were sad that the "tunnel of love" was not there. Instead we got the tunnel of.....
Blue!
These flowers reminds me of a song that was sung to me as a child, white coral bells.
Three year old silly girl.

Doing funny poses inside the tunnel of lights.

The moon was out and bright that night.
Lightning bugs! I am so looking forward to going out and catching some during twilight this summer.
While we were admiring this creature, some people told us that the artist was standing next to us! We got to ask her a few questions about her piece. I really enjoyed that.
The frog and my prince.

The castle reminded me of something from Mario brothers. Cosette was very excited to go inside and check it out.
This is what it looked like on the inside.
Had to include this one of our cute girl.
And here is a good one of the Delft Bunny, named after the Dutch  glass that is made famous by the city, Delft. We visited there last year and had a blast.
No enchanted forest would be complete without mushrooms. This one had its fair share of them.
Cosette wanted to see dancing mushrooms, but was satisfied to see some pink ones.

The big kahuna.
Us girls were excited to see the fairies!

Beautiful butterflies! Their middles were made from bowling pins.

Entering into the giant caterpillars mouth. We are kind of unsure about this.
We have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar lately which brought to life this part of the Lightscapes a little bit. We were the meal on the eighth day.
Henry was in the carrier most of the time because our ticket time was later, but he was wide awake and upset to miss the action. Once out he was into the gravel and dirt. He particularly enjoyed playing with the caterpillar's insides and touching the lights. Thank goodness they were not hot.

We could not figure out what this bug was. The consensus at the end was that it was a mosquito. Not a fan of those little buggers but this one was cool.

An attempt at getting a family photo.

Giant cocoons!

Ladybugs take over! During the winter time growing up my parents house would become infested with ladybugs. Those things were on the ceiling by the front door trying to escape the cold. This Lightscape scene reminded me of that.

Someone decided to take off on an unbeaten path.
Another attempt at a family photo. They were not having it. Then Henry ran under the rope and I had to chase after him.
Psychedelic tulip field.

Beautiful Van Cortlandt Manor.
The exhibit ended with a curtain of bubbles! The babes were beyond thrilled and would not let us leave for a while. It made for a fun evening and hopefully the event will be put on again next year. Now I am really excited for the Blaze this fall.

Blaze posts here, here, and here.
