Stay-cation

The kids had a mid-winter break back in February for an entire week. Lyndon took that time off and we had a stay-cation week. We tried out some new restaurants in our neighborhood, went to our favorite bakery more times than I can count, took a day trip, and had a preview of what summer in the city was going to be like.

Empire State building from the cab.

Wok to Work. We all got noodles and our tummies were so happy. Our kids love Asian food. It is really nice, because it widens the restaurant options.

Kick off the stay-cation with a viewing of Mary and the Witch's Flower. A film done by some of the creators at Studio Ghibli. We loved it. The kids were completely engaged in the film.  It's based of Mary Stewart's novel, The Little Broomstick, which we have added to our reading list.

Yes, we are Totoro obsessed.

Proud to be born in the year of the snake.

This one is so funny! Henry was pretending to be a Gharial and blend in with the mosaic, haha.

Our first new restaurant we tried was Playa Betty's. California style tacos. It was delicious, and Henry has really been enjoying chicken tacos, so he was all on board.

Hang ten, guys.

This poster, haha.

Museum day at the Children's Museum of Manhattan

Trekking through the Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware.

A day we spent all day outside in shorts. A wonderful preview for summer.

We spent a day out in Queens at the Museum of the Moving Image. They were showing Totoro on the big screen. It's Rapha's favorite movie, so we had to go. It was really really fun. Cosette's friend came with us, and she had never seen the film. She loved it too. There were a bunch of Totoro crafts to do afterwards and it was so fun.

And a Jim Henson exhibition! Rapha got so excited to see Marley and Marley, whoooo.

I started following Chip New York City on Instagram, because their cookies looked so good. Since we were going to be in Queens we had to go and try them out. It was a good decisions. We ordered chocolate chip, blueberry cheesecake, and s'mores cookies, basically we got at least one of every cookie they had that they. As we were waiting for our cookies, Henry kept saying, "I want all the cookies! I want all the cookies!".

Can never go wrong with chocolate chip.

Waiting for the train in Queens, with the Manhattan Bridge in the background.

Columbia basket ball game. Columbia vs. Brown. Columbia won! Cosette was super into the game, and I had more fun watching her reactions than the game its self.

And Henry got a library card!
It was a busy week. The kids really enjoyed having Lyndon at home. Lyndon and I enjoyed trying out the restaurants we have been eyeing, and just relaxing in our neighborhood.
