Boston Common and Public Garden

My favorite place we visited in Boston was the Boston Common and Public Garden. I love parks in the middle of cities. They are always so beautiful. Boston Common was especially beautiful.

Like many other sites in Boston Boston Common has an interesting history. It was founded in 1634 making it the oldest park in the country. Originally the park was used as grazing area. British troops used the Common as a camp before the American Revolution. So much history every where.

People were handing out cow bells for cheering the Marathon runners along. We started cheering early on. Pretty much once we got the bells we started ringing them.

Beautiful statue of George Washington on the left. Soldiers and Sailors monument on the right commemorating the Massachusetts soldiers and sailors in who died in the Civil War.

I know I keep using the word beautiful, but everything in the park was just beautiful. Above is the pond in the Public Garden. There were lots of ducks swimming around which make Cosette very happy. She kept saying "Duck! Duck! Duck!"

You can take a ride on the swan boats around the pond. Wish we had time to do that.

Baby girl just wanted to run, run, run! She kept running circles around this statue of Edward Everett Hale. He is an American author, historian, and Unitarian clergyman in Massachusetts.

There was a carousel! I was hesitant to take Cosette on it because she did not enjoy any of the rides we went on at Disney Land last summer (post here). When we got back to NYC when school started I took her on another carousel and she just clung to me the whole time. So I was a hesitant but thought we would try again. This time she loved it! She was so excited to get on. She handed her ticket to the park worker and then ran and found the prettiest horse on the carousel. It had pretty red roses on the saddle. She laugh and smiled the whole ride. I had a difficult time getting her off when the ride was over. Good thing there is one in Central Park.

Thank you for the beautiful day Boston!
